Second phase of Gunotsav concludes in Udalguri

TANGLA, Oct 14: The  second  phase of Gunotsav, the initiative of the State Government to rejuvete the quality of education imparted in  government-run schools, concluded in Udalguri  district  on October 13.
The teachers who had been engaged in month-long preparation for Gunotsav heaved a sigh of relief after engaging in the three-day long hectic schedule. Total 557 educatiol institutions in Khoirabari Education block, 349 educatiol institutions in Mazbat Education block and 496 educatiol institutions in Udalguri Education block, totalling to 1,402 lower primary and upper primary schools and composite schools of the district, underwent the second phase of Gunotsav.
On the other hand, 4,141 teachers and 630 BTC TET teachers, totalling to 4,771, and 8,083 students participated in the second phase of Gunotsav. As per statiscal data on the first day of Gunotsav, the attendance of students was 94.28 per cent. Meanwhile, a section of teachers and guardians have expressed resentment over the exterl  evaluation by exterl evaluators as owing to the sil’s pace of the officers, the students were compelled to sit for exam and remain in school till 9 pm -10 pm.
Contrary to the popular picture where State ministers, including State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, were seen sharing mid-day meal with students, the bureaucrats and officers who evaluated the schools in the district were reported to receive VIP treatment and had their lunch in rooms. On the first day of Gunotsav, many teachers allegedly distributed wrong question papers to the students which left the examinees confused. Many teachers even alleged that the infrastructural deficit in many schools was overlooked by the evaluators.
