Section 144 Cr PC imposed in Udalguri

TANGLA, August 7: Udalguri Deputy Commissioner District Executive Magistrate Sadha Hojai on Friday imposed section 144 of Code of Crimil Procedure with immediate effect throughout Udalguri district. In a press release it was stated that there was likelihood of breach of peace and tranquility in the district in view of ensuing Independence Day as there have been reports of sporadic incident and violence in BTAD districts. According to 144 Cr.PC, assembly of five or more in the public place, including tiol highway is prohibited. Procession, demonstration, public meeting, dhar, rallies and gherao are also strictly prohibited. Carrying and display of arms, lathi, dao, daggers, sharp instruments, bows and arrows are strictly prohibited. Use of loud speaker without permission is prohibited. Pillion riding on motor bikes and two wheelers is also banned.
