Section 144 imposed in Tezpur

Tezpur: Anticipating breach of peace and tranquillity and in order to ensure smooth and peaceful counting of votes of panchayat elections, the Additional District Magistrate of Sonitpur has prohibited the gathering of people and parking of vehicles within the radius of 100 metres of the counting centre set up at Darrang College, Tezpur, carrying of sharp weapons, sticks or any other objects that may be used as a weapon by any person in public gathering or in victory processions; setting up of temporary food stalls and any other temporary shops within the radius of 100 metres from the counting centres; use/ bursting of all types of sound emitting fire crackers exceeding permissible limit.
