ITANAGAR: The election tension and chaos seem to be never-ending as many reports are pouring in of intimidation of security personnel moving towards the Nampe polling station for repoll of Koloriang Assembly constituency.

According to sources, in one such incident, a team of CRPF and two sections of IRBN, who were on the way to Nampe for repoll duty, were stopped by around 500 people on their way. The masked men stopped the vehicle of the security forces and fired in the air. Automatic weapons, shotguns and pistols were used to stop the security convoy, sources added. “This happened at Lumbang which is around 2 hours from Koloriang,” a source said adding that we were on the way to Parsi Parlo and then to Nampe on the next day.

When questioned on the incident, IGP and election nodal officer Sunil Garg said that the reports are true and the department will take serious action on the matter. “There have been rumours that AK 47 and automatic guns were used by the people at Koloriang but it is true that security personnel were manhandled,” he said.
