Seeds distributed among farmers

Silchar, Feb 7: In a bid to encourage farmers to plant seeds for sowing, 30 kgs of corn were distributed by J R Lalsim, ADC, Cachar and in-charge, SDO (Civil) Lakhipur and Thombi Singh, SDO Agriculture, Lakhipur, among the farmers at Labankhal near Jirighat on Friday. It will bring best results if the farmers plant it now and will be ready by the month of June-July. A garbage tank under the Vermi Compost Tank scheme has been provided for storing the manures. Till now, 30 such tanks have been completed. The distribution of corn under the Mission Organic Value and Chain Development for North Eastern Region 2016-2017 will be for the farmers. A target has been fixed to distribute corns among 500 farmers.

Two sacks of paddy seeds of 30 kgs each were ceremoniously distributed among farmers, at the project site of 1000 bighas pilot project 2016-17, at Old Khoirabad, under the Bringing Green Revolution in Eastern India (BGREI) Scheme. The seeds, HYV paddy, variety - Abhishek, if planted now and sown in March it will bloom in the months of June and July. Both J R Lalsim and Thombi Singh also visited Singerband and distributed pea seeds under the BGREI Scheme. They were accompanied by the AEA. J R Lalsim advised the farmers to work hard with complete devotion and dedication. The distribution was carried out under the direction of Zakir Hussain of DAO office.
