Selection of Rymbai as JHADC CEM opposed

SHILLONG, June 23: The Jaintia Youth Federation (RJYF) has expressed it opposition against the selection of MB Rymbai, MDC from Amwi Khliehtyrshi as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) after former CEM Moonlight Pariat vacated the office earlier this month.

The general secretary of RJYF, Ebormi Pale questioned that how could a person who is still under investigation on the allege misappropriation of Rs 2.33 crore as per an RTI finding filed by Arlin Dkhar from Khliehtyrshi village in the previous year was accepted to become the new CEM of JHADC.

“This is not the first time that elected representative in the JHADC had misused public money and if we continue to allow corrupt people to become leaders in the JHADC then an imminent threat awaits the future of the overall district,” Ebormi Pale said.

The Federation also questioned by asking, who are the MDCs who are supporting MB Rymbai to become the new CEM at JHADC despite knowing that he was involved in this issue of misappropriation of funds.

The RJYF has also condemned the MDCs who have given their support to MB Rymbai to be the new CEM of JHADC.

Ebormi Pale also urged other NGOs, village dorbars, religious leaders and the general public of the entire district of Jaintia hills to come forward and oppose such leaders.
