Seminar on SC and ST Act held

GUWAHATI, July 3: The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Assam State Development Corporation for Schedule Caste Ltd organized a state level seminar on ‘The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and implementation thereof in Assam’ on Sunday at the NEDFi House in Guwahati. The purpose of the seminar was to create understanding about the implementation and monitoring of the Act and sensitize all the stakeholders associated with it, a government communiqué said.

Attending the seminar as chief guest, Abhayapuri South MLA Ananta Kumar Malo hoped that the interaction held during the seminar regarding important departmental issues will yield result. Reiterating to intensify the awareness among the stakeholders on the theme, he appealed the departments concerned to implement new schemes for their overall growth.

Other dignitaries attending the seminar were Rajiv Kumar Bora, Additional Chief Secretary, Satya Nath Sarma, Member Secretary, Assam State Legal Services Authority, KC Sarma, Secretary, Home and Political Department, Binita Pegu, Secretary, WPT&BC Department, Hiren Nath, Commissioner of Police along with a host of other dignitaries, the communiqué added.
