Semir on problems of Northeast India held

GAURISAGAR, March 28: Jhanji Hem th Sarmah (HNS) College organized a day-long student semir on ‘Northeast India-Problems and prospects’ on Monday at the college auditorium in  association with  college IQAC and UGC Ishan Uday achievers. In this connection an iugural function was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Manjit Gogoi,  Principal of the college. The semir was iugurated by Dr. Saumarjyoti Mahanta, noted columnist and Principal, Sibsagar Commerce College. Dr. Arundhuti Mahanta, noted researcher and Professor, Gargaon College, Dr Binoybrata Rajkhowa, noted  columnist and Professor, CKB College, Teok,  Dr. Birinchi Kumar Borah and Dr. Debojit  Sarmah, both Associate Professors of Jhanji HNS College,  took part in the semir as  resource persons.  In the semir a total of 148 students from 10 different colleges and universities  took part and presented 74 papers. In the semir, Pragya Paromita Kaushik and  Rimzim Saikia, students of  DCB Girls’ College, Jorhat and Krishanu Kar and Songjukta Gogoi, students of  tiol Law University, Assam, jointly bagged the noted Xattriya cultural researcher Dr. Jaganth Mahanta Memorial Prize money trophy for  best paper presentation. Earlier Anjan Mahanta, wife of Dr. Jaganth Mahta, was present in the valedictory session and spoke a few words.
