Senior citizens' cooperation sought in development of DHS Kanoi College

Dibrugarh, April 19:  The senior citizens of Dibrugarh who attended a meeting organized at the college campus recently with the president of the college maging committee, Dr Chandra Kanta Gogoi, had suggested to make the DHS Kanoi College, the premier educatiol institute set up here in 1945, a tiol-level high standard college.

The meeting was attended, amongst others, by former Principal of DHSK Commerce College, Dr Raghu Borbora, former Principal of MDK Girls’ College, Prof. Sunil Borthakur, advocates  Abhimunya Baruah, Prasenjit Goswami, physician Dr Bipin Kakoti, Dr Hemoprova Borthakur, Aradha Dutta, Dr Bharati Dutta, Dr Mahesh Jain, Gandhesawr  Saikia and Hasan Sarif Ahmed, who in their respective deliberation offered various suggestions  regarding the all-round development of the college. The citizens also suggested opening courses on Disaster Magement and courses related to tea plantation and its quality produce.

Earlier, Principal of the college, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia gave a brief account of his efforts to develop the college in all fronts and his initiation to create an academic environment in the campus involving faculty members, employees and students. He also sought leading citizens’ full support and cooperation in his bid to make the college a tiol-level standard college. Dr Saikia said, the citizens meet, first of its kind was organized to offer due respect to the senior citizens of the town on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and to involve them in the all-round development of the college.

In his presidential address, Dr Chandra Kanta Gogoi welcomed the Principal Dr Saikia’s relentless efforts during his 10- month long tenure as Principal to uphold the legacy and prestige of the college, one of the premier educatiol institutions in Upper Assam. Dr Gogoi urged upon all to extend all forms of cooperation towards upgradation of the college.
