Senior Citizens’ Forum urges steps to control stunt bikers

UDALGURI, May 27: The Senior Citizens’ Forum, Udalguri has urged the police to lay more speed breakers in Udalguri town and control the stunt bikers. Regular police checking should be done, especially during the evenings, to curb illegal vehicular movement. Due to the raising number of vehicles and uncontrolled speeding bikers, walking in the town has becomes hazardous. The Senior Citizens’ Forum urged the Social Welfare department to construct an old-age home to rehabilitate helpless people loitering in the streets.

The Senior Citizens’ Forum headed by Nareswar Deka as president, submitted a memorandum to the General Manager of NF Railway urging to create a separate ticket counter for senior citizens’ at Udalguri station. Moreover, they demanded a passenger waiting room, stoppage of New Delhi - Naharlagoon AC express at Udalguri, ATM and catering services at Udalguri station. The forum also urged the railway authority to construct the road in the southern part of Udalguri station.
