Senior Congress leader passes away

Silchar, Nov 1: The death of senior Congress leader Uma Shankar Tiwari (83) has sent waves of shock among the party leaders and workers along with the people of South Barak. He passed away on Wednesday at 2 am at his residence at Pabda Basti. He had been ill for the last 5 months. Upon hearing the news, Pradip Kumar Dey, district Congress president, Hareshwar Dhubi, SC Board chairperson, I Kanta Singha, former GP president, Ghurni Singh, senior jourlist and social workers Durga Kanta Pandey and Mukesh Pandey went to his residence. They paid floral tributes to the body and expressed their grief at his death. Later, his body was cremated at Tilka river at around 1 pm.

 Late Uma Shankar Tiwari was GP president of Pabda Basti for 10 years  and an active social worker. His death is an irreparable loss. Around 600 people came to his residence after hearing about his sad demise. They also paid floral tributes to his body. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, daughter and a host of relatives. MLA Rajdeep Goala too expressed his grief and sent his condolences to the bereaved family.
