Itagar, Dec 14: The State unit of tiol People’s Party (NPP) has called upon the State governments of Assam and Aruchal to settle the age-old inter-state boundary dispute for good.

Referring to the recent dismantling of five under construction tourist lodges in Dollungmukh circle along the Assam-Aruchal boundary by the officials of the Assam government, the NPP stated that the boundary drawn by the Bordoloi Commission notified in 1951 for political and revenue purposes has been the primary cause of such evictions conducted repeatedly by the Assam police and forest officials.

“The Aruchalees who had not accepted the notification have always become the victim though they are not at fault. Such evictions have deteriorated the age-old relation among the people living along the boundary. Both State governments have remained mute spectators,” NPP spokesperson Nima Sangey Saling said in a statement this evening. Further stating that the BJP is ruling in both States as well as in the Centre, the party stated that this is a golden opportunity for both the government of Aruchal and Assam to find a long lasting solution to the boundary dispute.
