Seven drug addicts apprehended

DIGBOI August 22: The people of Lakhipather village in Digboi on Sunday assisted the Digboi Police in apprehending seven drug addicts from various locations of the oil city.

According to police, the arrested addicts were identified as Rituraj Hazarika (21) of Balijan village, Md Monu Hussain (20) of Kasai Patti area , Minjum Gogoi (20)  of Forest Collony, Sahil Hussain (21) of Digboi Charali, Raju Ali (19) of Forest Collony, Nivesh Mech (18) of CMH Area Digboi and Rupam Deka (21) of Digboi Balijan.

According to sources, all the apprehended youths were inhaling rcotics along the roadside at Lafangkula village of Lakhipather under Digboi Police Station area and creating nuisance and disturbing a marriage ceremony in a nearby house. The people of the area held most of them who tried to flee and chastised them on the spot and later handed them over to the police.

Meanwhile, based on FIR lodged by the village headman, the police arrested all the youths and under case no 140/16 , the addicts were prosecuted u/s 20 (A)/ 27 of NDPS Act.
