Several villages inundated in Baksa district

GORESWAR, August 13: With incessant rainfall in Bhutan border area followed by continuous rising of water level of the Puthimari, Suklai, Boraliya and Deosunga rivers running through Baksa district, vast areas in the district have been submerged since Friday last. The flood-affected areas are Bangalipara, Garubasti, Deusunga, Uparkhuti and Oubari, including the vast cultivated agriculture area and schools mely Bordi Balika ME School, Everest Academy and Bangalipara mghar. Besides, following the breach of embankment of the River Puthimari, the villages thkochi, Khoirabari, Bagaribari, Ulubari and Madalbar have also been submerged completely.

On the other hand, due to washing away of the bank of River Deosunga, which runs from the Bhutan hills, following the rising water level, houses of Harila Harijon, Rajib Harijon, Debasti Harijon, Arati Harijon, Sankar Sahani, Basanti th, Bhim Chitola, Nitya Das, Mantu Das, Chandra Subedi, Chintamani Subedi, Gouranga Subedi, Padma Subedi, Baidya th Subedi and Shyam Chitola in Deusunga village under Goreswar circle have been submerged.
