Shillong Superintendent of Police Davis Nestell N Marak requests citizens to maintain order

Shillong, July 31: The East Khasi Hills, Superintendent of Police, Davis Nestell N Marak has requested all citizens within the Shillong city to keep order on public roads, streets and all tourist spots in East Khasi Hills district and desist from causing obstruction, injury, annoyance to passerby or pollution and littering.

According to Marak this was in pursuance of Section 101 of Meghalaya Police Act 2010. The Superintendent of Police further stated that any person not obeying the lawful orders issued may be arrested Under Section 102 of the Meghalaya Police Act 2010 and on conviction of the court of law, shall be liable to a fine of Rs 5000.

He also advised all tourists visiting the tourist spots to carry garbage bags in their vehicles where small garbage like wrappers, chip covers and water bottles can be gathered and those bags be dumped/thrown in appropriate dustbins/garbage bins.
