Shillong's Pohkseh locality gets community hall

SHILLONG, Jan 20: After many years of waiting, the locality of Pohkseh in the city on Saturday filly received its own community hall after it was iugurated by retired IAS official and local resident WL Lyngdoh.
The newly-constructed community hall at Pohkseh was constructed under the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), 2013-14 at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh.
Speaking at the iuguration as chief guest, Lyngdoh said, “The newly-built community hall is not only for the executive members of the locality’s dorbar, but for the benefit of all residents of the locality.”
He also urged the local residents to maintain cleanliness while visiting the community hall by not spitting or throwing garbage indiscrimitely as they would not do the same at their own homes.
Lyngdoh lauded the efforts of the executive members of Pohkseh in filly helping realise the dream of having their own community hall.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, Pohkseh headman Paul Syiem urged all the executive members of Pohkseh to continue working for the interest and betterment of the whole locality, including its residents.
He also appealed to the residents to maintain cleanliness in and around the community hall.
“If anyone is found to be littering within the premise of the community hall, stern action will be taken against him or her,” he warned.
