Shiva ensures medal in Asian boxing

GUWAHATI, Sep 1: Shiva Thapa ensured a medal in the Asian Boxing championship by earning a berth in the semi fil at Bangkok today. The win also gave Assam boxer a ticket for the World Boxing championship. Shiva, the defending champion who is taking part in the 56kg category, defeated Kyrgyzstan's Omurbek Malabekov 2-1 today. The bout was to be stopped in the second round because of an injury to Malabekov. Apart from Shiva two other Indian boxers- Vikas Krishan and L Devendro Singh too moved into the semi fils today.
