Showers in Shimla brings relief from humidity

Shimla, July 21: After days of prevailing dry weather largely in Himachal Pradesh, evening rains in Shimla and nearby areas on Thursday brought cheers to thousands of tourists who have thronged the hill stations to escape the heat and humidity in the northern plains. Shimla, situated at an altitude of 2,130 metres, saw sharp showers and recorded the maximum temperature at 26.1 degrees Celsius. “Some of the tourist destitions in the state like Kufri, Chail, Kasauli, rkanda and Dharamsala saw rain, bringing much relief from humidity,” a weatherman told IANS. “What a pleasant relief in Shimla from the humidity,” said Shubham Awasthi, a tourist from Chandigarh. The Met office said there could be light to moderate rain in popular tourist resorts like Shimla, rkanda, Kufri, Kasauli, Mali, Palampur and Dalhousie on Thursday and dry weather thereafter till July 24. Dharamsala, the abode of Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, saw 6.6 mm of rain. It saw a high of 28.8 degrees Celsius. (IANS)
