Sivasagar Book Fair-2017 kicks off

Rangpur Gaurav-2017 conferred to Arjun Bhugeswar Baruah

Joysagar,  Nov 4: Sivasagar Book Fair, 2017 began from Saturday at Boarding Field of Sivasagar town.

 At the iugural function, the flag of the organizing committee and social organization Khoj was hosted by the president, Rohini Gogoi whilesmriti tarpan was done by the joint secretaries of Khoj, Joy Gogoi and Samiran Phukan. In the afternoon, the iugural function’s open meeting was held under the chairmanship of working president Dr. Prakash Kotoky where Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa attended as the chief guest.

 Tasa in his speech appreciated the attempt of the organizers as book fairs could help develop the habit of reading among students as well as other people. In the iugural function, Professor from Road Island University, USA, Dr. Dilip Kr. Dutta also took part and spoke on education and learning system in USA schools and varsities. Besides, Thowra MLA Kushal Duwori, Amguri MLA Pradip Hazarika, Sivasagar MLA Prab Gogoi and Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner N. Konwar, Sivasagar Superintendent of Police SK Sonowal, DDC, Sivasagar Abhijit Baruah, BJP district president Bhaben Mahan, Municipal chairperson M. Sinha and many other dignitaries took part in the iugural function.

 In the open session renowned sports persolity Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah was given away the prestigious Rangpur Gaurav-2017. After receiving the award, Arjun Bhugeswar Baruah, who has turned 87 this year, said that people’s affection and love gave him energy. He appealed to the young generation to be punctual and to work hard.

 Altogether 65 publication groups from different parts of the country are taking part in the book fair and hundreds of students and people thronged the book fair on the first day.
