SIVASAGAR, Jan 11: Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, rayan Konwar recently convened a meeting to take stock of arrangements being put in place for forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the district. The meeting decided that as per the past practice, the main function of the day would be held at Boarding Field.
The Deputy Commissioner, while greeting the officers from various government offices, eminent citizens, representatives of various parties, organizations and NGOs, called upon all concerned for cooperation in order to have the celebration of the Republic Day in most befitting manner.
Additiol Deputy Commissioner Aswini Kr. Doley read out the programme schedule of Republic Day which, he stated, would kick-off with prabhat pheri at 5 am, on January 26. He further informed the gathering that as per the itinerary, other listed agenda for the day were playing of patriotic song, hoisting of tiol flag at various government offices, educatiol institutions, public organizations and institutions, distribution of fruits and clothes among the jail inmates, specially-abled children and pregnt women at the Civil Hospital and competitions to be held among school students on art and essay.
Later, after the formal hoisting of tiol flag by the chief guest at Boarding Field, the main event of Republic Day celebrations will begin from 9 am, as per schedule. The meeting also talked at large about the additiol events to be organized for Republic Day which include march past parade to be participated by contingents of Police, Home Guard, Scouts and Guide, tiol Cadet Corps (NCC), and school children, tableau of various government departments of the district to be showcased in the parade, painting and quiz competition to be held among students, cultural programme, friendly cricket match, and prize distribution.
