Sivasagar DC, SP visit border areas, appeal to people to maintain peace

Joysagar, Nov 4: Following recent sensation over the proposed galim pact between the Centre  and NSCN, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner N. Konwar and Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar, SK Sonowal visited the Assam-galand bordering areas under Sivasagar district on Friday to take stock of the law-and-order situation in the border areas.
 They also inquired about the recent news that some galand-based miscreants were distributing extortion letters to some businessmen and local villagers under Assam-galand border sector-C area. The officers also visited bordering ginimora PS and Bihubar PP and took part in two different peace meetings which were arranged by the Border Peace Committee and local social organizations. DC N. Konwar appealed to the local people to maintain peace and cautioned them against believing in rumours. 
Sivasagar Superintendent of Police SK Sonowal in his speech assured the villagers that all possible measures would be taken to safeguard the villagers and anyone found involved in creating tension among people and also instigating people to become violent would not be spared. Local people, social organization leaders and  OCs of ginimora and Bihubar PS also took part in the peace meeting.
