Sivasagar DC takes stock of embankment work

JOYSAGAR, April 6: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha took stock of the ongoing Dikhow, Darika and Desang river embankment repair and re-construction works on Wednesday. DC Jha visited the Dimaruguri embankment project of Dikhowmukh, Mitong embankment work in Rupahimukh and Kujibali-Hanhchara embankment work near Dikhow and Darika river at Khelwa Development Block, Sivasagar. Accompanied by the DRDA, Water Resource Department officials and also by the District Disaster Magement department officials, Jha instructed the engineers and contractors concerned to complete the work by April.

Besides, the DC also instructed the District Forest Department not to issue any license to the contractors who wanted to dig sand and soil from the river shore of the area as it might cause erosion. About 12 embankment construction projects worth about Rs. 20 crore are going on in various riverside areas of Sivasagar and the district administration is focusing on time-bound completion of the works.
