Sivasagar KVK organizes exhibition and Kisan Mela

GAURISAGAR, July 14: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar under Assam Agriculture Universit y(AAU), Jorhat organized an Agricultural Technology Exhibition and Kisan Mela sponsored by Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) on the occasion of Pre-Kharif awareness programme on Monday at KVK campus, Rahdoi, Sivasagar.

The exhibition was formally iugurated by Debarata Saikia, MLA, zira. In the evening session a Kisan Mela was held where Dr.Ranjit Saud, Associate Director, Extension Education , AAU, Dr. Jogesh Goswami, Senior Extension Specialist, AAU, Dr. Lalit Kalita, District Veteriry Officer, Sivasagar, Dr. Jagadish Barman, Veteriry Officer, zira and Himadri Jyoti Dutta, Chief Secretary, Krishak Nyas took part as guests of honour.  Dr. Saud said that out of 22 KVKs under AAU, 19 KVKs were smoothly running.  Among them Sivasagar KVK  was playing a vital role in capacity building among farmers.

He also opined that Morigaon KVK  was  probably the first in India which was being run by women. Dr. Goswami  stressed new  creation based on traditions and heritage. Himadri Jyoti Dutta give the keynote address on contribution of KVK for the development of farmers. He also lauded the effort of KVK, Sivasagar.

Earlier Dr. Fuleswar th, Programme Coorditor, KVK, Sivasagar anchored the whole programme  and welcomed the guests and gathering. A good number of farmers from various parts of the district took part the programme and exchanged their  views regarding various issues.
