Sivasagar Municipal Board workers go on strike again

A Correspondent

Joysagar: The workers’ union of the Sivasagar Municipal Board has again started non-cooperation agitation against the SMB authorities from the December 11 onwards. This is for the sixth time this year that the SMB workers’ union had to resort to strike to demand release of their long-pending salary and also to solve many burning problems. SMB workers’ union leaders said that the tripartite discussion which was held between the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner, the SMB authorities and the union leaders in November was a total failure and the SMB authorities allegedly did not follow the resolutions that were passed during the discussion and till date the SMB authorities had not released their pending salary of 12 months. The fresh strike has again affected the basic civic services and cleanliness of the town.
