Sivasagar residents want honest, dedicated leaders to represent constituency

SIVASAGAR, Jan 6: The prestigious 108 Sivasagar constituency, which has been represented by leaders of many political parties since its inception, still awaits development. Not just because of its historical values, the constituency also holds importance as it is the birth place of many great litterateurs, educationists, sports persolities and politicians as well.

The Sivasagar constituency had been represented by leaders from many political parties as constituency MLA since its inception, but one can see the ground reality of development. The people of the constituency were fed up with the fake promises made by the leaders during elections. While the assembly election is approaching, political parties are raising caste and reservation issues. Meanwhile, voters in this constituency are taking the forthcoming assembly election as an opportunity to teach a lesson to the non-performing MLA.

In this regard, a public meeting was convened here at tya Mandir recently to discuss about what kind of a candidate people should elect from this constituency in the assembly election. The meeting brings together more than 200 businessmen, doctors, intellectuals, educationists, lawyers, artists, sports persolities, student leaders and jourlists to discuss the most pressing issue facing the constituency.

Two lawyers rrated the failures of the MLAs to perform as per expectations of the people, who represented this constituency, and about the plight people face to meet the present MLA.

Some speakers also commented that the few mes which had been pronounced as candidates to contest from tiol and regiol parties lacked qualities to work for the welfare of the masses.

A few doctors and student leaders recollected the contributions of Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha in every field. They also said that Parag Chaliha’s youngest son Saurav Chaliha (Liku) was following the footsteps of his father and it was his straightforwardness and honesty of purpose for which he too was making contribution in the field of socio-cultural and sports as well.

Most of the speakers requested Saurav Chaliha to contest from the Sivasagar constituency. They also appealed to political parties to come forward and field candidates like Saurav Chaliha who were honest, gentle, intelligent, easily-approachable and above all, dedicated to the cause of the society and tion. They also urged the voters to get united and cast their vote in favour of honest candidates like Chaliha who have a zeal to work for the uplift of society and the tion.
