Sixth Prabhawati Saikia Memorial Lecture At Uzan Bazar On Saturday

GUWAHATI: Like the previous years, the Bhabendra Kumar Saikia-Prabhawati Saikia Smritirakshya Samiti will organize the sixth Prabhwati Saikia Memorial Lecture at Williamson Magor auditorium at Vivekananda Kendra at Uzan Bazar here on February 9. Noted educationist and litterateur Dr Tilottama Mishra will deliver the lecture on emergence of new individual consciousness on writing of women biography.

Prabhawati Saikia, wife of former MLA and social activist Bhadendra Kumar Saikia besides being a noted academician was also a litterateur. She was a recipient of the Teachers’ Award from the government for outstanding contribution in the field of school education and founder president of Kalongporia Sahitya Sabha. Late Saikia was also actively associated with various social works. During the February 9 memorial lecture function the organizers will also give the first Bhabendra Kumar Saikia Memorial Award to former State minister and renowned Socialist leader Ramani Barman.
