Smuggled timber seized at Joysagar

JOYSAGAR: The Charaideo District Forest Department personnel, with the help of Sonari Sadar Police, seized a 407 truck (AS-04-AC-5658) from Borhat Dilli reserve forest area during regular checking on Sunday.

Sources informed that the truck was allegedly transporting some Segun and Sal timber logs illegally and the forest sleuths suspect that all the logs were illegally cut from the Dilli Reserve Forest and were being smuggled.

The driver and handyman were detained and brought to Sonari Sadar Police Station for interrogation. The seized timber logs are worth several lakhs of rupees.
