Snatcher Gang Busted At Jakhalabandha In Nagaon District

GUWAHATI: The city has recently been assailed by a series of snatching incidents that had both the civilians and the police beleaguered. The city police however were able to uncover a gang of snatchers hiding out at a rented apartment in Jakhalabandha under Nagaon district. Instruments used in stealing were found stowed away in their room along with cash of Rs 15 thousand and a Pulser 220 bike (As 01 DY 5782) which was stolen from Barpeta.

The group included 10 members Vinay Yadav, 19, Shiva Yadav, 20, Feroz Yadav, 20, Deepesh Singh, 19, Abhay Yadav, 19, Akash Yadav, 28, Deepesh Das, 20, all from Bihar, Anesh Goala, 19, Reetesh Goala, 19, both from Jalpaiguri and a minor.

As per their confessions, the gang was supposed to strike Golaghat next and had come all the way to Assam to operate as snatchers. They also used itch herbs (bandorkekua) to aid in their illegal deeds. A case (387/19 U/S 392) has been registered under Pan Bazar police station as further investigations are being made into the matter.
