Speaker’s research initiative launched

GUWAHATI, July 2: In a ceremony organized at the Assam Legislative Assembly premise on Monday, the Speaker of the Assembly Hitendra Nath Goswami kicked off the ‘Speaker’s Research Initiative’, a programme to house 20 students who will undergo a one-month internship programme on parliamentary democracy.

Inaugurating the programme, the Speaker highlighted that the main aim is to attract the young scholars of the state to study and understand the parliamentary democratic set up and its functionaries and principles. The programme was also attended by the leader of opposition Debabrata Saikia, Add Chief Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs, Dr AK Singh, MLA Pabindra Deka, Principal Secretary of Assam Legislative Assembly Mrigendra Kr Deka and journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap.
