Special convention of Nepali Sanskriti Surakshya Parishad held in Udalguri

UDALGURI: A special convention of Nepali Sanskriti Surakshya Parishad was held at Udalguri Bishnu Rabha Kristi premises with a day-long programme. The meeting was presided over by Lil Bahadur Pradhan, the president of Nepali Sanskriti Surakshya Parishad (NSSP). Tribute was paid to martyr Maneswar Basumatary.

Narayan Sarmah, the national general secretary of Nepali Sanskriti Surakshya Parishad, while inaugurating the session, urged the people to keep their cultural identity intact. Puspadhar Sarmah, the principal of Udalguri Higher Secondary School, appealed all people to resolve issues and conflicts through discussion.

The convention was opposed by the Udalguri district committee of All Gorkha Students’ Union and Assam Gorkha Sanmellan. The convention was scheduled to be held at Kachurabari ME School but the Udalguri district administration cancelled the permission to hold the meeting at midnight. The guests arrived and finally the Udalguri district administration permitted them to conduct the convention at the Udalguri Bishnu Rabha Auditorium premises. The meeting expressed deep concern over the opposition by the Udalguri district committee of AAGSU and Assam Gorkha Sanmellan. The convention selected Toyanath Dahal as president and Dal Bahadur Khadka as general secretary of the Udalguri district committee for the new term.
