Speed Up Recruitment Process: Meghalaya Agricultural Students and Graduates Association (MASGA)

STATE AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Agricultural Students and Graduates Association (MASGA) has expressed concern over the long-pending issue of non-recruitment of personnel in the State Agriculture department, and urged the Government and the Department concerned to speed up the recruitment process.

Though the Association had conducted several meetings with the Agriculture Minister and the officials concerned and also carried out a sit-in protest over the issue on August 9, 2018; yet the department as a whole has failed to take any steps in this regard, it alleged.

“There has not been any recruitment in the department since 2007-08, and the Association wants to know the hurdles leading to this inordinate delay in appointment of personnel. Prima facie, the Meghalaya High Court on March 24, 2015 vide case no. WA. No. 10/2015 also dissolved the last recruitment due to discrepancies in the recruitment process; and re-examination for the 16 posts was held in October, 2018,” said Baiarbor Nongbri, president of MASGA Nongthymmai, Shillong.

Pointing out that “till date, results of the re-examination have not been declared”, he added that “according to an RTI reply given on June 28, 2016 the list of vacant post as on 31st of May 2015 was 57 or more (since the RTI was not clear) which implied that there were many vacancies in the Department.”
