DHUBRI, May 18: Sports materials among the 16 clubs were distributed formally by the Bilasipara (East) legislator, Ashok Kumar Singhi at Durga Mondir premises in Bhahalpur under Bilsipara Sub-Division of Dhubri district on Wednesday.
Speaking in the distribution ceremony, Singhi said that due to lack of sports and physical activities among the present day youths, they were found to be attracting towards drugs and other activities detrimental to their sound body and mind.
“It increasingly found often than not that addiction of drug ruining their lives even at the tender age. So, I appeal all the clubs which organize sports to involve more and more young boys and girls and encourage them to play different games, so that they do not derail from the physical activities at the village level”, Singhi added.
Singhi also informed that there were several schemes launched by state and central governments for sports persons and talented sports persons had to be hunted from the village level performances.
Sports materials including footballs, volleyballs and nets were distributed among the 16 clubs including Choibari Sports Club Cum Library, Haldibari Sports Club Cum Library, Nidani Sports Club Cum Library, Khutapara Sports Club Cum Library, Bhahalpur Sports Club Cum Library,Bangaldoba Sports Club Cum Library, Beldermari Sports Club Cum Library,Totpara Sports Club Cum Library, Chagalkhuti Sports Club Cum Library, Ketengajhara Sports Club Cum Library, and Borpara Sports Club Cum Library.
Office bearers of the clubs while appreciating the move of Singhi said that this was the first time that any MLA had taken such an initiative and interest in the sports activities, and expressed their gratitude and heartfelt to Singhi.
