'Sri Lankan PM's comments snub to Modi'

Cheni, March 9: DMK president M. Karunidhi Monday termed Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s justification of the shooting of Indian fishermen as a snub to Prime Minister rendra Modi. Karunidhi said in a statement that Wickremesinghe justified the killings of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lanka vy at a time when Modi was set to visit Colombo on March 13-14. This, he said, was “like a snub” to the Indian prime minister. “It is condemble.”

According to Karunidhi, Modi should also urge Sri Lanka to let Tamils displaced by the years of conflict to return to their homes, demilitarize Tamil areas and devolve more powers to provinces. India-Sri Lanka relations have been strained over the shooting of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lanka vy in the rrow sea that divides the two countries. The affected fishermen are from Tamil du.
