St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School’s students shine in Meghalaya Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination

SHILLONG: St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School bagged as many as eight positions in the merit list of the Science stream and six positions of the Commerce stream in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSSLC), 2019 examination.

Conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), the results of the two streams along with the vocational stream were declared on Wednesday.

In Science, Debjanee Bhattacharjee of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School with 464 marks secured the first position, while in the Commerce stream, Bhanudaya Upadhaya of BBS College, Shillong secured 448 marks.

In fact in the Science stream, four students of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School grabbed the top three positions.

In the Science stream, Komal Mittal of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School came second with a score of 438 marks.

The third position was shared among three students, Idarikor Warshong, Jayashree Bhattacharjee both of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Berennice Anerict Tang of North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Mookyrdoop-Jowai, scoring 433 marks each.

In the Science stream, the other schools which featured in the top-ten merit list included, North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Mookyrdoop-Jowai, Seven Set Annexe Higher Secondary School, Shillong, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura, KJP Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary School, Jowai and St Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

Meanwhile, in the Commerce stream, Bulbul Das of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong with 437 marks secured the second position, while, Damewanshwa Bittu Rymbai also of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong grabbed the third position with 434 marks.

In the Commerce stream, the other schools which featured in the top-ten merit list included, St Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong College Higher Secondary Education, Seven Set Annexe Higher Secondary School, Shillong and St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

In the Science stream, the pass percentage was 71.07 per cent. Out of the 3,706 students who appeared a total of 2,634 passed the examination.

In the Commerce stream, the pass percentage was 79.24. Out of the 2,254 students who appeared a total of 1,786 passed the examination. Five hundred and fifty six were placed in the first division, 946 in the second division, and 212 in the third division.
