State BJP Forms 18 Subcommittees For Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections

GUWAHATI: State BJP has geared up for the Lok Sabha Elections with 18 Election Management Sub Committees to ensure that the campaigning remains hassle-free and bears fruit. It has been notified that there would be 5 to 12 members in every Sub Committee which has been divided as Office Committee, Publicity, Literacy, Central Leaders Programme, Publicity Materials Distribution, Coordination with District Administration, Coordination with Election Commission, Transportation, Aviation, Booth Management, State President & State Leaders Tool Programme, Voter List Committee, Legal Committee, Media Management, IT & Social Media, Cultural Team, Security, Protocol & Accommodation, and Co-ordination with Sangha Pariwar.

According to a State BJP source, “The party has always had an Election Management Committee and these 18 sub-committees’ are to aid in the smooth functioning of campaigns. Under these sub-committees’, each department will be systematically looked into and they in turn will duly report to the Election Management Committee. These sub-committees have been aiding in every election campaign so far.”

The elections in Assam will be held in three phases. The 1st phase will be held on April 11 in Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur. The 2nd phase will be held on April 18 at Karimganj, Silchar, Mangaldoi, Diphu (Autonomous District) and Nagaon. The 3rd phase will be held on April 23 at Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Guwahati.

The star campaigner of BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive on March 30 for election campaigning and is scheduled to visit Gahpur under Tezpur LS constituency and Moran under Dibrugarh LS constituency. Other campaigners set to arrive include, National President BJP Amit Shah, Bapul Supriyo, BJP National General Secretary NE Ram Madhav, Rupa Ganguly, among others.

It is worth mentioning that at a press meet on Friday, 70 organizations openly condemned BJP and termed the party communal. They even went so far as to instigate the public against voting for the party. Reverting to the allegations, BJP Spokesperson Hemanga Baishya counter-alleged that the parties are agents of Congress and will say anything to demine BJP. “The Assamese population are with BJP and I am positive that we have better chances of winning this time”, Baishya remarked.
