State Cricket Coaching Centres to get Assam Cricket Association recognization

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cricket Association has planned to bring the Cricket Coaching Centres, spread across the State, under one umbrella and will give proper recognization for their relentless works to develop cricket in Assam. The announcement was made by the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia attending a function organized by the Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre in its premises here today.

Addressing a gathering Saikia said, “There are several Cricket Coaching Centres, including Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre which is pioneering in the field, across the State. They have been working hard for a long period to produce quality cricketers for Assam. However they haven’t received any recognization for their good work which is very unfortunate. Assam Cricket Association are seriously thinking on it and are going to take steps very soon.”

He also added:“We will try to arrange orientation programme for the coaches of the different Coaching Centres of Assam too on regular basis. We feel, it will help us to adopt uniform coaching pattern all over the State.”

Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre, the oldest Cricket Coaching Centre of the state which turned 35 years this time, organized the event to felicitate seven of its former and current players who earned a great reputation in the field of cricket by sheer dedication and hard work.

The cricketers who were felicitated today were Devajit Saikia, Zakaria Zuffri, Mukut Kalita, Nishanta Bordoloi, Riyan Parag, Utpal Das and Sandipan Devnath.

Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Dharma Kanta Mili attended the function as a chief guest. Among other present in the occasion were president and the treasurer of ACA Romen Kalita and Tridip Konwar, the president and the secretary cum coach of Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre Rajib Prakash Barua and Nabab Ali respectively.
