State Industrial Policy on The Cards: Arunachal Pradesh Industry Minister Tumke Bagra

* Increase in transport subsidy scheme from 20 per cent to 50-60 per cent mooted

Itanagar: After assessing the status of few industrial units at Naharlagun and Banderdewa, Arunachal Pradesh Industry Minister Tumke Bagra has advocated the need for an attractive industrial policy to attract outside investors to the State.

Bagra interacted with few industrialists and entrepreneurs and expressed his happiness to see the industries which had come up. He advised them to have a proper system to dispose of industrial waste and directed the firms to install pollution control devices for a healthy environment and take up labour welfare on priority basis.

“The State will come up with a very attractive industry policy under the dynamic leadership of young Chief Minister Pema Khandu to attract investors from within and outside India. Moreover, all Northeast Chief Ministers should jointly move the Centre to enhance transport subsidy scheme from 20 per cent to at least 50-60 per cent for raw materials and finish products under the North East Industrial Development Schemes as it was 90 per cent earlier for industrialization of this neglected region,” he said.

It may be recalled that State Government had formulated the Industrial Policy 2008 to create an investment-friendly environment for industrial growth in the private/joint venture/cooperative sectors for sustainable economic development. Moreover, the border trade with Myanmar, China and Bhutan was suspended after the 1962 Chinese aggression.

The Border Trade Centre opened at Nampong in Changlang district by the then Union Minister of State for Trade & Commerce Jairam Ramesh on November 25, 2007 under the ‘Look East Policy’ was to give official tag to ongoing border trade with Myanmar.
