State Karate meet on Feb 12

GUWAHATI, Feb 7:  TG Baruah Memorial 6th Youth and U-21 State Karate Championship will be held in Guwahati on February 12 at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium. Around 435 players from 16 districts will take part in the championship.

Addressing a media gathering the secretary of the United Karate Do Association (UKAA) gen Bongjang said, “Apart from the tourment UKAA will also organize two-day coaching camp for all the participants and it will be held on February 10 and 11 respectively. The tourment will be iugurated on February 11 and Sports Director PR Khaund will attend the function as Chief Guest.”

The championship will be played in three different age groups: children (8-13 years), Youth (14-17 years) and U-21 (18-20 years). The total number of event will be 65. The best player in children and youths category will receive cash awards.

The media briefing was also attended by the Working President of UKAA Bhuben Lahkar.
