GUWAHATI, July 27: The statement of senior advocate Prashanta Kumar Saikia was today recorded at Gauhati High Court with reference to the allegation that Saikia had tried to influence the probe into the APSC cash-for-job scam.

It may be mentioned that Sailendra Kumar Sarma Baruah and businessman Surajit Choudhury allegedly made attempts to manipulate a court order in this connection. The issue surfaced when Prashanta Kumar Saikia was the Special Judge for two months in Gauhati High Court then.

Saikia reported for recording of his statement before the Registrar of the Court at 10 am on Friday.

Meanwhile,Police in an attempt to find out telephonic evidences carried out a search operation in Surajit’s house in Guwahati on Wednesday night. Once the mobile phone is traced, police expects to find vital evidences of calls being made while making the attempts to influence the probe.

Police along with Sailendra carried out search operations at various places trying to find out details of the case on Thursday. Sources further stated that there is also a likelihood of the investigating agencies grilling the arrested officials as well on this count.

The police recently arrested lawyer and BJP worker, Sailendra Sarma Barua and real estate builder, Surajit Choudhury on charges of trying to manage the investigation. It is alleged that Sailendra Kumar Sarma offered a bribe to the judge on behalf of Surajit Choudhury, who happens to be the husband of (now under arrest) Pallavi Sharma Choudhury, former Circle Revenue Officer, Mangaldoi.
