Stolen excavator recovered in Khatkhati

Bokajan, June 4: In continuation of the series of operations, the Khatkhati Police foiled a bid to smuggle a stolen JCB and arrested four persons on Friday evening.

As reported, the Khatkhati Police based on secret information, intercepted the JCB on NH 36 in Pur Lahorijan area in Assam-galand inter-State border. The vehicle is believed to have been lifted from Hojai, gaon. Badrul Islam and Smile Ali of Doboka, Kamal Sharma of Hojai and Ram Krish Das of Lumding has been arrested in this connection.

This is the fifth case in series of stolen vehicles recovered by Khatkhati Police. Recently, police bbed a well-to-do businessman Harichand Gupta of Bokajan town and recovered three luxury SUVs during the process of interogation. OC of Khatkhati PS said, “Harichand Gupta is involved with a gang of car lifters and many stolen vehicles have already been smuggled as of now. Ajay Gupta is the main kingpin in this illegal racket operating from Delhi. He is running a used car dealership and thereby smuggling cars into the north-eastern region. We somehow maged to get Harichand Gupta in police remand that led us to the recovery of two luxury SUVs and we are optimistic of more recovery in the near future.” According to official sources, pressure from higher ups and leaders at the local level have discouraged the police in continuing with their probe. Gupta who is believed to be a millioire and is said to have finced various political leaders in the recent assembly polls.
