Stress laid on strict adherence to traffic rules to minimize road accidents in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: “The alarmingly number of road accidents have been taking many lives, particularly of youths with bright future, and it is the high time that all sections of the society should take it seriously to reduce these types of road accidents so that the precious lives of our future generation could be saved at any cost. Strictly adhering to the traffic rules and to make it a part of life is the only solution for minimizing the road accidents,” said District Transport Officer of Darrang, Kumar Sanjiv Krishna while addressing a specially organized awareness meeting on road safety.

The District Transport Office, in association with Darrang Kamrup Bus Owners’ Association, organized the day-long programme at the office hall of the association at Bhebarghat here. Earlier, Motor Vehicle Inspector Padma Lochan Hazarika, while explaining the objective of the programme, laid stress on the need of the civil society in taking part in the road safety rules.

In-charge of traffic wing of Mangaldai Police Station, Assistant Sub Inspector Gokul Deka, president of Bus Owners’ Association Munin Dutta, media persons Bhargab Kumar Das and Mayukh Goswami also took part in the programme as the resource persons. Significantly, District Transport Officer Kumar Sanjiv Krishna, who has recently joined here, has taken up an action plan to organize awareness rallies and campaigns in all the areas of the district in a phased manner with the active involvement of NGOs, NCC and other social organizations.
