Strikes May Paralyse Banks on Christmas Eve

GUWAHATI: A nationwide strike of banks was announced sometime back on December 26. Recently, a bank officers’ union is set to go on strike on December 21 which is a Friday. During the Christmas time, banking services across the country might come to a halt.

All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) said that full and complete mandate for officers (Scale I to VII) wage revision in 11th bipartite settlement is the only demand. As December 22nd is a fourth Saturday banks will be closed. Apart from the opening on 24 that is Monday, the next day, because of Christmas, banks will remain closed. Along with the union strike on 26 December, the whole stretch from December 21 to 26 is going to be affected.
