Subansiri bridge in precarious condition

Itagar, April 10: The vital bridge over the Subansiri river at Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district is in a precarious condition.

Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf discovered this when he, along with other officers on Monday, inspected the condition of the roads at Daporijo township and nearby areas and also of the bridge, an official report stated on Tuesday.

The team found the bridge, which was repaired a month ago with the help of the Border Roads Organization, in a precarious condition.

The team found that several iron plates of the bridge have been damaged.  The DC spoke to the PWD officials (highway) and the Ministry of Union Road Transport for the early maintence of the bridge in order to prevent untoward incidents.

Subansiri bridge is the lifeline of the district and such condition of the bride would paralyze socio-economic activities in the district, the report added.
