‘Subungthini Thandwi’ Bineswar Brahma’s Contributions Recalled by Bodo Sahitya Sabha

Kokrajhar: ‘Subungthini Thandwi’ Bineswar Brahma's 18th death anniversary was observed by the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) at his burial place at Chandamari near Gaurang river in Kokrajhar. As part of the programme, the president of the BSS, Taren Boro hoisted the organizational flag at half-mast while the EM of BTC for Sports and Youth Welfare, Doneswar Goyary paid rich floral tribute. The deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyary also offered floral tribute.

Addressing the gathering, the deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyary said that Bineswar Brahma played a significant role in the development of Bodo language and literature and he was instrumental in making the Bodo language included into the Eight Schedule of the Constitution of India. He said that Brahma worked hard for Bodo language and literature to flourish in the international level. He added that the BTC would develop the burial ground of Brahma.

General secretary of the ABSU, Lawrence Islary said the Bodos would remember the contribution of Brahma who dedicated his life for the Bodo language and literature.

Islary said ABSU and other organizations had been demanding that the death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma should be observed as student’s day but neither the State Government nor the local administration had do anything in this regard so far. He called upon all to come forward to put pressurize the State Government.

Former president of the AATS, Ranjit Kr Borgoyary said the local government had failed to develop the burial ground of Bineswar Brahma. He urged the BTC administration to take necessary action to upgrade the burial ground of Brahma.
