Swachha Nadi, Swachha Savvata Drive to keep Gomati river clean

Agartala: Standing Social Organisation, a Amarpur based NGO, observed ‘Swachha Nadi, Swachha Savvata’ under which it members cleaned a 3-km stretch of the Gomati river. In this regard, a programme was organized on the banks of the river near the Loknath Temple which was inaugurated by MLA Ranjit Das in presence of Narayan Bhattacharjee, vice-president of the Standing Social Organisation, secretary Bishnupada Roy and other members. After the inaugural program, the members launched the cleaning drive from Loknath Temple to Rangamati Bridge.

They also launched a awareness campaign to keep the river clean. The members took to a boat and through loudspeaker made the public aware of the steps needed to be taken to keep the river clean. A large number of people gathered beside the river to witness the programme and appreciated the initiative of the organisation. Some local people came forward and assured their co-operation to keep the river clean.
