Biswanath Chariali, July 31: A Swachhata Rath was flagged off on Tuesday by State PHE Minister Rihon Daimari under the Swachh Survekshan-2018 programme. Addressing a meeting held on the occasion in front of Binapani Natya Mandir, the minister said that Swachh Survekshan-2018 programme had emerged as the largest cleaning programme in the country. He also called upon everyone to take part in it to make it a success. The programme will commence on Wednesday in Biswanath district along with the rest of the country under the aegis of District Water and Sanitation Committee of Department of Public Health and Engineering (PHE) under Swachha Bharat Mission (Gramin) with a month-long programme. Today’s programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Dhiraj Jyoti Kalita, Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Choudhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Diganta Baishya among others. The rath will present videos, films on sanitation, sanitation songs and also distribute IEC posters and leaflets in rural areas till August 31.
