‘Syiems & Myntris can’t campaign in polls’, says Deputy CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem

SHILLONG: During the question hour of the KHADC Budget session Congress member Ronnie V Lyngdoh raised a question as to whether Syiems and Myntris of various Himas are allowed to campaign for any political party or candidate during elections to Parliament, Legislative Assembly and Autonomous District Council (ADCs).

Replying to the question, Deputy CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem said: “The Syiems and Myntris of different Himas are not allowed to campaign for any political party or candidate.” When asked as to what action will be taken if anyone is found to campaign for any party or candidate, he replied that action will be taken as per the provisions of the relevant Acts and Rules.
