Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi attends foundation day of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya

BARPETA, Aug 3: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi attended the first Foundation Day of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, at Krishnaguru Sevashram in Barpeta district on Friday. The Governor extended his best wishes to the entire fraternity of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, inmates of Krishnaguru Sewashram and the devotees of the ashram on the occasion.

Hailing the achievements of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Prof Mukhi said that the institution which was approved by the Assam Legislative Assembly under Assam Private University Act. 2007 in 2017 and formally inaugurated on August 3, 2017, has already created ripples in the annals of higher education in the State. It may be noted that the university has already opened MA in Assamese and Political Sciences and admission in new courses in Philosophy and Education have also started.

The Governor said that the main aim of the university which is said to be offering job-oriented courses like skill programme will go a long way in skilling the large pool of human resources in the state. The visionary Paramguru Krishnaguru Prabhu Ishwar targeted the unemployed youth of the area to offer employment opportunities through such skill training. It is indeed a great vision to uplift the socio-economic condition of the rural people, the Governor succinctly said.

Prof Mukhi said that he was happy to learn that the academic endeavor of Krishnaguru Sevashram has helped many students in achieving brilliant results in HSSLC and HSLC exams conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and Secondary Education Board, Assam (SEBA) in the last couple of years.

The Governor advised the officials that since the institute has been started very recently they should follow the UGC guidelines strictly so that the university would not suffer in near future due to non-compliance of the guidelines in place from time to time. The Governor also visited the Assam Co-operative Bell Metal Utensils Manufacturing Society, Sarthebari.
