Child abandoned

Shillong, May 24: The District Child Protection Officer, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that a baby boy of 21 days old was abandoned by his mother in the house of Shri. Ranjit Pandit and Smti. Sundari Devi, resident of 13th mile, Tamulkuchi (Byrnihat), Ri Bhoi District. The couple has handed over the baby, who is now 9 months old to the Child Welfare Committee, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh and he is under the care and protection of “Lawei Baphyri’, a specialized adoption agency, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, stated a press release.
