Effigies burnt

LAKHIMPUR, March 28: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union  (ATASU) burnt the effigies of Prime Minister rendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajth Singh, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah at the Malpani Chariali of North Lakhimpur town. ATASU demanded retaining the status of the one and only women university of the State, to offer capital punishment to the culprits of the Batadrava gang rape incident and to grant tribal status to the six communities of Assam.
